Osteopathic Foundation Extends Funding for SOLAR Fellowship to Advance Research Leadership
The Osteopathic Foundation (oF) is thrilled to be providing another year of funding to the SOLAR Fellowship, which will allow it to continue advancing osteopathic research and vital work in capacity-building initiatives within the osteopathic community.
Since its inception, the Fellowship has greatly contributed to the growth of osteopathic research on a global scale, with notable successes including 50 peer-reviewed publications in respected journals, with an additional 27 manuscripts either under review or nearing submission; international collaborations; and securing substantial grant funding.
To maintain momentum and ensure the continued advancement of osteopathy as a respected field within the healthcare space, the SOLAR Fellowship has emphasised the necessity to ensure the continued participation of three established research leaders in the programme. The oF’s financial backing will allow the continuation of essential research and mentorship programmes that are pivotal to the development of the next generation of osteopathic leaders.

In addition to the SOLAR Fellowship’s tangible success in advancing osteopathic research, their work also provides transformative opportunities for professional growth, allowing the osteopathic community to advance their research capabilities and strengthen osteopathy’s position in healthcare through research, networking, and career advancement. Speaking of the funding, Osteopathic Foundation Manager, Manjeet Kaur, said: “Extending this funding would enable SOLAR to complete ongoing research projects, further develop their successful initiatives, continue building research leadership capacity, strengthen the evidence base for osteopathic practice and maintain the momentum of their collective achievements”.
Dr Jerry Draper-Rodi from the Health Sciences University and the National Council for Osteopathic Research says “The SOLAR Fellowship has been transformative for osteopathic research globally. Through our international collaborations and mentorship programmes, we’re not just producing research – we’re building a sustainable framework for evidence-based practice that will benefit generations of osteopaths and their patients. Our track record of nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications and £1.1 million in secured grants demonstrates how the oF’s investment is directly strengthening osteopathy’s position within healthcare”.
