Daniel Collis – President

Daniel was elected to Council in 2020, since which he has led on student liaison, chairing the iO Student Committee and has been instrumental in setting up the iO’s Better Business Group, which seeks to expand opportunities for private practice clinic owners. He brings a unique perspective, proven track record and relentless work ethic to Council. Dan was voted by Council as Vice President in October 2022, before being elected as President in November 2024.

He graduated top of his year from the European School of Osteopathy where he was also head of the Student Union and worked to increase collaboration between the various Osteopathic colleges. Additionally, he is a serving member of the Army Reserves where he has excelled in various leadership and military training. He is the Principal of the Vantage Clinic in Cambridge.

Glynis Fox – Immediate past President

Glynis was elected to the Council in 2019 and became iO President in 2021 serving for three years before moving to Immediate Past President in November 2024. Glynis qualified from UCO (formally BSO) in 1997. She worked in London after graduating. She has been in private practice since graduating. When Glynis left London she practised as a locum in practices across the UK. She is currently the principal Osteopath in a central Edinburgh practice and has been a coach and mentor for her junior colleagues for over ten years. She has been involved in the iO mentoring platform since it’s pilot. Glynis has an interest in working in general practice and with people with persistent pain. Glynis would like to bring our profession together, encouraging greater collaboration and support between established osteopaths, and greater guidance to newer graduates, so that every osteopath – no matter what their experience – has the support they need throughout their career.

Fabio Basile

Elected in 2022, Fabio qualified in Italy in 2013 and previously graduated in Sport and Exercise Sciences (MSc). Before becoming an Osteopath, Fabio focused on Posturology and was awarded a grant to work in a Physiotherapy department in Ireland. Passionate about Osteopathy, Fabio ran his own business and worked for the Olympic Rowing Federation in Italy. He has also published different papers (IJOM and JAOA) and been working in the UK as a sole practitioner since 2018. Having witnessed the regulation of Osteopathy in Italy, Fabio has gained valuable insights and been a passionate advocate of public awareness and professional recognition.

Elliott Reid

Elected in 2021, Elliott believes that the future for all osteopaths is very promising with the multi-faceted nature of ideal health providing opportunities for the profession. He says of his Council role ‘It is an honour to be able to use my skill set to shape the profession for the betterment of my fellow osteopaths and the profession’s combined patient list. In short, I believe the profession has a fantastically bright future that will be made even more promising with a unified, evidence-based approach to our work. This combined with effective marketing could revolutionise the future of osteopathy. I cannot wait to take my experience and push the profession in the right direction.’

David Kennett

With over 20 years of experience as an osteopath, David Kennett is the founder of the largest osteopathic clinic in the UK. David has successfully built and now manages a team of over 40 staff while overseeing an NHS contract. He is an active iO’s Better Business Group member and served as a panel judge for the 2024 iO Awards.

David lectures internationally for the ESO. He enjoys mentoring and supporting other Osteopaths and helping them to develop themselves, their businesses and the profession. David was elected to iO Council in 2024.

Claire Piper

Claire Piper graduated in 1991 from the ESO. She joined the Osteopathic Centre for Children in 1996 and was in the first graduating cohort of students for the DPO. Claire remained at the OCC for 4 years as a tutor. In 2016 Claire became part of the clinic tutor team at the ESO Children’s Clinic were she remains as tutor over two sessions per week introducing 4th year students to working with children and babies. Claire founded Kent and East Sussex Osteopaths Group in 2012 which has grown to having over 250 members and holding regular events. In 2017 Claire took up a lecturing post at the ESO teaching Clinical Integration and then in 2022 a post teaching Paediatrics in London at BCOM which she taught until July 2024. Claire also became Head of Department for Integration in 2017 and held this post for 5 years whilst developing the Integration Module. Claire was elected to iO Council in 2024.

Trevor Purt – Lay Member

Trevor is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Surveyor after having initially trained in Architecture. He has been a CEO or equivalent in the public and private sectors for over 30 years. In the public sector as a senior NHS leader he has led some of the largest NHS organisations in the UK with experience both from the provider and commissioning sectors as well as working at both Regional and National levels.

His last role was in the private sector as Vice President for IBM’s Healthcare Consultancy business for Europe, Middle East and Asia with a specific remit around Population Health and wider health and social care System integration and service reconfiguration. Trevor was a Secretary of State appointee to the NMC, has served as a trustee and board member of the NHS confederation and of the Prince’s Trust. Trevor currently serves as a NED and Chair of Audit and Risk at a Large NHS Acute Trust and sits on the Rural Health Board of Lincoln University.

Christine Faulconbridge – Lay Member

Christine first became aware of osteopathy when she worked for as a receptionist at a Bayswater osteopathic practice. After seeing people recover and experiencing care from Sue and members of her team, she has drawn on osteopathic care as part of her holistic healthcare journey ever since. ‘I have served for 25 years as a senior manager and director within the NHS and am delighted to be able to join the iO Council to share my knowledge and experience. I hope to be able to contribute to the work of the iO in developing and promoting the osteopathic profession in the UK. I am particularly interested in helping the NHS gain understanding and embrace the opportunities for osteopathy to provide expertise and resources to help sustain and improve overstretched NHS services. The impact of the pandemic on health care needs innovative solutions. Osteopaths as Allied Health Professionals can help offer those solutions. I look forward to meeting and working with you in this potential new era for healthcare.’

Sharon Potter – Educational Representative

As the Chair of the Council of Osteopathic Educational Institutions (COEI), Sharon represents the higher education institutions recognised as providing osteopathic degree courses in the UK.

Nadine Hobson

Nadine qualified in 1978 and is the principal of two group practices in Surrey. Her special interest is in women’s healthcare, including pregnancy, postnatal and menopause-related conditions.

For many years she was a consultant osteopath at the Birth Unit at the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in London until its closure in 2010. Nadine also worked at Hyde Park Veterinary Centre for 20 years as part of their multidisciplinary team. She has lectured internationally and co-wrote two chapters, the Dog and the Cat, in the groundbreaking book, Animal Osteopathy, published in 2020. She is a founder member of the Association of Animal Osteopaths (AAO)

In recent years Nadine has become increasingly involved in the politics of healthcare to ensure the future of Osteopathy and its ability to support the health of the nation.

Maurice Cheng – Chief Executive

My role is to lead the executive team here at the iO, and support the President and Council with information and advice on the strategic direction of the Institute. Our mission is to support, unite, develop and promote the osteopathic profession for the benefit of public health and patient care. We strive to build a growing and thriving profession, with increased access to care for patients and recognised for its contribution to healthcare.
A key part of my responsibility is to build strong working relationships with external organisations important to the advancement and reputation of osteopathy, including the statutory regulator, the osteopathic research council, and the undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathic education providers; as well as the Department of Health and NHS, and other health professions.
I am proud to work with such a committed and wonderfully enthusiastic team at the iO. And we are all proud to work for the splendidly eclectic, highly professional, and patient-dedicated community of osteopaths that we serve.
